I was asked to create a motion project for school so I created an animation to accompany the lofi hip hop song “when you’re near” by Elijah Who. This song reminded me of a warm spring day so I wanted to get the animation to reflected that warmth.

Goals:
-Practice hand drawn animation                               -Using animation guides to get in time
-Cycle parts of the animation                                      with the music
The animation guides help estimate the timing of the animation, which is helpful when you are trying to get the flowers to bloom to the music.

I want to show flowers blooming to help the viewer feel like it is spring and plants are just popping up but also I want to ground the audience before they move on to the surreal animation of the flowers blooming in the sky.

Animating the flower blooming and dissolving took a lot of per planning to figure out how it was going to cycle.

After I had one flower done I just duplicated and layered the animation on top of each other so that one cycle ends another will begin.
